Finally after so many weeks of shifting, cleaning, shopping etc etc. I have so call finally settled into my new apartment. I am now staying at the Al Barsha area, which is about 10 mins drive to work with smooth traffic condition and 45 mins drive with traffic jam, and trust me most of the time I end up 45 mins in the car. It’s a pretty nice one bedroom apartment fully equip with gym, pool, steam bath etc, but I will not go to the pool, as there are a lot of construction going on here. So those workers high up there will have a ‘bird eye view’ of what’s happening at the pool, therefore in order not to create any commotion, best to stay out of pool… hahahaha…well I do catch a good glimpse of the pool from my balcony… heehee..

Other then that, the daily wake up call from the construction just opp my apartment will be my wake up call, 630am without fail. Only consolation out of this is I can once a while enjoy my wine at my balcony with a nice view of the Burj Al Arab 7 star hotel and occasionally sea view if the sky is clear. Well I can also monitor the work progress of the construction from here, hahah.

Next on my list of things to do is to grab a nice low coffee table and rug for the living room, my TV is finally coming this Saturday after many weeks of waiting for them to arrange for delivery, sick, in Dubai all is wait and wait, and talk about waiting I went to the Karama post to pick up a parcel sent by my monkey friend in Korea, took me 30 mins to get out of the place. They wanted to charge me 350 DRH for storage charge for a week for a small tiny winy box, of course I refuse to pay and make a big fuss all the way to the manager whom seems to take sides on his people, but the moment I mentioned that I don’t want the parcel and he can have it sent back, he back off. So when he finish with his Arabic talk, he turn around smiling saying it’s a miscommunication.. ya right! My foot. Anyway I just glad to be out of the place. So monkey don send things to me liao ok.. please send it to Singapore to Ms Pig at Whampo ok??

Trip to Baracudar

Took a drive to Baracudar on Friday. It’s a place approximately 150km away from Dubai. Tax free zone whereby I can get my alcohol without license and much cheaper rate!! Yes very cheap.

The drive is worth it, though its long but traffic on Friday morning is like a ghost town as most of the locals will be busying praying.

Drive along the highway you got to pass Al Sharjar, and then you hit the desert again and along the way nothing but sand dune, drove pass some quad bike adventure as well. I guess that way all this adventure stuff takes places here.

I reach there around 1030am and indeed there were like 20 cars parked outside and you can see everyone loading their cars full of alcohol!! Of cause mine is not exceptional, had a case of Heiniken, Chivas and 3 bottles of wine for only 300Dir which is around 125 SG. CHEAP!

One interesting I see is this old aircraft hanging out there which states Dubai Flying School, which I wonder why is this old rusty plane sitting there?? Well it does provides some shades for the car parked there. Am sure this plane here is not going to be ever in used again, or I hope so… hahah. I sure I be back soon in no time for my next reload!

Next destination for the weekend will be the Jumeirah Beach!! Sand and sea here I come… oppss need to grab my bikini first… haahah.. monkey you don envy me ok.. enjoy your snow in Korea… freeze your monkey buttock!!

Life in Dubai

Well my Monkey friend started her blog while she started her new life in Korea. So asked me to start one while i am in Dubai!! She writes about Korea while i write about Dubai... well i hope i got nice things to comment about here... hahahah

Looking back, i have been here since 6th Oct. Finally settle in to my one bedroom apartment and things start to move, other then the additional house work that i need to do here, which will not be for long as soon as my part time maid comes on board, things been pretty smooth.

Went to get my internet and TV working, they told me 5 working days, which i think could lead to 2 weeks wait.. hey 'it's Dubai here!!!'. The one BIG BIG thing i miss is the happy hours with my pals, and here drinking is such a chore!! You got to head to the local pubs own by hotels to grab one, or go to a liquor shop to buy back BUT you will need an alcohol permit to buy it! YES only in Dubai i think there is such think. So here i am stuck with no booze asmine is not ready yet!

Had a long drive ytd out of town to the new site where my project will be next. I need to build i new office in the middle of nowhere, yeah nothing you can see but sand and sand... and yes occasionally some camels along the way. So comforting to know i not along on the drive of freeway!

Will try to hit the beach this weekend, need to get some fun and excitment out of this place! Till then that's all folks!!!!
